Marquette County Republicans Announce New
Leadership.
Marquette Michigan, November 27, 2006 – The Marquette County
Republicans announces new leadership this week. Joel Westrom (2006
109th State House Candidate) was named Chair and Kyle Bonini Vice-
Chair. Jim Goodman will remain Treasurer and Breana Buentello will
remain Secretary. All four positions are a two year term and were elected by
the Marquette County Republican Executive Committee.
Doreen Takola who served as Chair for 14 years elected not to run this term.
“I am proud to turn over the Chair to Joel, I have enjoyed all the political
adventures but it is time for new ideas.” Says Takola.
Joel Westrom is very optimistic about the future of Marquette County and
plans to use his past leadership skills to build the local party. “I was truly
inspired in our community and people as a candidate for the House of
Representatives. I plan to take what I learned as a candidate and put it to
good use locally.” says Joel.
Saul Anuzis, State of Michigan Republican Chair, is optimistic about Michigan
as well as Marquette County. “Joel’s positive campaign brought momentum
to your district. We’re very pleased to see him in a leadership role. We expect
the he’ll continue to build relationships like he did in his race. We support
positive leadership and look forward to supporting Joel.” says Saul.
The Marquette County Republicans meet monthly and work in conjunction
with other U.P. County Republicans as well as the State of Michigan
Republican Party. The main purpose of the party is to support local, state
and federal candidates. “I’m going to have a busy term as Chair with the
2008 Presidential race heating up” says Joel “Several candidates have
thrown their name into the hat and Michigan is a big decider in the
Presidential race. Don’t be surprised if you see a Presidential candidate
show up in the near future.”

Marquette County Republicans host Christmas party to
help stock food pantry at Teaching Family Homes.
Marquette Michigan, December 10, 2006 – The Marquette Country
Republicans will be hosting a Christmas Party/Food Drive this Friday
December 15th to help Teaching Family Homes stock their food pantry.
Teaching Family Homes serves abused and neglected children and helps
families through training and support classes. Families needs can be so
overwhelming especially this time of year. Contributions go directly to the
children and their families.
The event will be held Friday December 15th at the residence of Joel
Westrom located at 1041 Osprey Ct. (Hawk’s Ridge Condominiums)
Marquette from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The group is seeking canned or box
goods. Items can be dropped of at Joel Westrom’s residence or Teaching
Family Homes, 1000 Silver Creek Rd., Harvey.
